Leadbetter opened the scoring for Ossett in the seventh minute but Steve Ball equalized after thirty-three minutes for United and it seemed for a long while that the game would finish up a 1-1 draw, but Connor scored the winner for the home side in the final minute. For Leeds, there was a double change in the sixty-third minute when Chris Flear replaced Scott Cousin in goals and Steve Tobin came on for Marlon Billy at Outside Left. Len Curtis replaced Chris Sullivan at Centre Half five minutes later. A minute later there was another double substitution when Matthew Flanagan replaced Noel Whelan at Right Back and Stephen Hill replaced Marcus Philpott at Inside Right.
